I’m the program manager for the Learning 2022 Conference, part of a team of creative and talented program managers and marketing professionals. We’ve worked hard for the past several months to create a fun, focused, and forward-looking event for you, our learning leadership community.
Over the past few years, leaders at all levels have seen drastic changes in their organizations, impacting how and where people work and changing workplace culture forever:
· Transition to a digital-first approach to learning and collaborating has highlighted digital skills gaps and inequity in access to basic infrastructure like reliable internet access.
· Companies have stepped up their use of digital tools and accelerated their move toward automated processes, in many cases as a partial response to staff shortages.
· The challenge of finding reliable childcare or elder care, along with two years of on-again, off-again schooling, has forced employees—and their managers—to adapt to unpredictable work hours while also adjusting to work as part of a remote team.
· Employee burnout is at all-time highs, leading, in some companies, to high turnover.
These significant shifts are transforming leadership.
New skills are needed: Digital and project management skills to work and lead remote and hybrid teams. People skills to intuit and provide the flexibility and empathy employees need. Technology skills to adjust to leaps forward in automation. Leadership skills and cross-departmental relationship building to effect the kinds of change in corporate cultures that employees are demanding: Changes that will result in equitable, inclusive workplaces where employees feel heard and valued—and able to balance their work and personal lives and needs.
Learning 2022 is the place to explore these changes, hone and expand leadership skills, strategize with peers and presenters, and build your network.
It’s also the place to have fun meeting or reconnecting with other learning leaders while taking part in the Experiences that we’ve designed to help you build your brand, engage in self-care, or just have fun.
